iPhone/iPad Device Post Migration Process

You may have received an error stating that your device cannot receive mail:

Once you've received this message, tap the Settings button, which will take you directly to the e-mail settings page for that account.

Your error message could also look like this:

If you have received this message, exit from the Mail app by pressing the home button, then launch the Setting App, tap Mail, Contacts, and Calendars, and select your UT Law e-mail account.

Next, select Delete Account and confirm.

Optional: If you do not receive the Cannot Get Mail prompt, follow these four steps to manually delete your old profile:

  1. From the home screen, tap Settings, then tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  2. Select the entry for the connection to your Law School email account (most likely uses the word “Exchange” or “Law”).
  3. Click the Delete Account button.
  4. You will be prompted to acknowledge that deleting the account will remove its calendars and reminders from your device. Click the Delete Account button again.

Installing your new account on your iPhone/iPad

Once you have successfully removed your existing UT email account from your iPhone/iPad device, follow these steps to install your new account:

  1. Close the Mail app completely before proceeding. To fully close the Mail app, use the switcher bar (press Home button twice), hold down one of the icons until it starts “shaking,” and then tap the red "-" next to the Mail app.

Note: If your iPhone or iPad is on an older version of iOS which does not support switching, restart the device before proceeding.

  2. Open the Settings app, then select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Select Add Account, then Microsoft Exchange.
  4. Configure your Exchange account in the provided fields.
    • Email: enter your Law School e-mail address.
    • Password: Your UT EID Password
    • Description: Name for your account (perhaps “UT Law Email”)

When you select Next, if your account is automatically configured, choose the items (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Reminders) that you would like to synchronize on your device.

Warning: If you synchronize Contacts, all the contact information on the Austin Exchange account (i.e. directory info for everyone at UT — a lot of data) may be imported onto your phone.

  5. Once you've selected the items you would like to sync, tap Save.

If e-mail configuration is not automatic, or if you have an older iOS version, you may be prompted with additional screens which look like the screenshots below.

Fill in the following fields with the information provided:

  • Email: Your Law School e-mail address
  • Server: outlook.office365.com
  • Domain: [leave blank]
  • Username: Your Law School e-mail address
  • Password: Your UT EID password
  • Description: Name for your account (perhaps “UT Law Email”)

Tap Save or Next. Your iPhone will attempt to connect to the Austin Exchange server. Choose the items (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Reminders) that you would like to synchronize on your device.

Warning: If you synchronize Contacts, all the contact information on the Austin Exchange account (i.e. directory info for everyone at UT — a lot of data) may be imported onto your phone.

Tap Next or Save.

If you are still not able to connect at this point, please submit a help ticket.

Note: SSL is the default connection option and should not be changed.
