Graduate Public Affairs Council (GPAC) Update
By Wes Ven Johnson (MGPS ’12) President
Lately I have noticed more traffic on the streets around UT, new faces in the halls of LBJ, and temperatures that are actually below 100 F. All of that can only mean one thing - the fall semester is here! This year is off to a great start and seems to already be in full swing, and so is GPAC. We have new officers (see photos and biographies of the executive committee) and lots of great plans.
Our two fun-tastic LBJ tailgates contributed to two fantastic Longhorn victories. The bright and enthusiastic incoming class is already getting involved through GPAC and other LBJ student organizations.
One of our goals this year is to increase the contact between students and alumni, and GPAC's Outreach and Professional Development (OPD) committee is already working on it. They will be setting up dinners or other activities that bring together the past and the future in an informal social setting. If you are interested in participating, please contact Sara Myklebust. We are also looking forward to the Nov. 5 Alumni Tailgate, sponsored by the Austin Alumni Association.
I am looking forward to a great fall!
