This panel was part of a larger, weeklong celebration of the life and work of Barbara Jordan. Sponsored by the Barbara Jordan Freedom Foundation, this panel was part of a launch event for the organization that took place on Feb. 21, 2011.

The panel The Need for Juvenile Justice Reform featured: Lead Speaker Shay Bilchik, former head of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and Executive Director, Georgetown University’s Center for Juvenile Justice Reform; and Responders: Vicki Spriggs, Executive Director, Texas Juvenile Probation Commission; Senior District Judge Jeanne Meurer, Travis County juvenile judge; and Prof. David Springer, UT School of Social Work.
