Patricia Maclachlan
Research Interests

Dr. Maclachlan's research interests focus on political-economic development in advanced industrialized democracies, with an emphasis on Japan. Her publications address consumer politics in Japan, the history and politics of the Japanese postal services, and the reform of Japanese farming and agricultural cooperatives. She teaches courses on Japanese domestic politics and foreign policy, East Asian political economies, the international relations of East Asia, and comparative political institutions.
