Paul Bonin-Rodriguez
Research Interests

Paul Bonin-Rodriguez is the Head of the Performance as Public Practice Program at The University of Texas at Austin, as well as the Graduate Advisor (aka, Director of Graduate Studies). At UT, he was the founding Chair of the undergraduate Minor in Arts Management and Administration. In 2023, he received the Regents Outstanding Teaching Award and the Distinguished Teaching Award from the College of Fine Arts. His first book, Performing Policy: How Politics and Cultural Programs Redefined U.S. Artists for the Twenty-first Century (2015), assesses how arts policy research and development initiatives since the 1990s have radically reshaped artists’ practices nationwide. His forthcoming book, Groundwork: Race, Equity and the Network-based Infrastructure for U.S. Artists, analyzes the influence of artist networks since the 1970s and 80s. Nationally, he serves on the Editorial Board of Artivate: a Journal of Entrepreneurship in the Arts and a Liaison for the Ford Foundation Fellowship Program.
