Dr. Torres’ research explores a range of interests in rural development and poverty reduction in Latin America and the U.S. South. Specifically, she has examined issues of migration, agricultural development and tourism in developing country economies in the context of globalization. Torres is engaged in a five-year project of research, education, and outreach concentrating on rural transformation and Latino transnational migration to the U.S. South.
