About Us

The office of Campus Safety and Security was founded in 2005 in order to enhance safety efforts of The University of Texas at Austin. Under the direction of Associate Vice President Bob Harkins, the office brings a heightened sense of security to campus by coordinating emergency planning and routine safety operations.

Campus Safety and Security oversees the following departments: Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Health and Safety, Fire Prevention Services, Parking and Transportation Services, and The University of Texas at Austin Police Department. These departments serve the campus by maintaining public order, planning for emergency and disaster response, responding to incidents, supervising traffic and parking, eliminating environmental hazards, and preventing fires and other accidents.
