Faculty, staff, and students from across the University of Texas at Austin actively seek innovative solutions to the world's most pressing environmental, economic, and social challenges to create a more sustainable world for future generations. To further link together and leverage these efforts, the Office of the Provost funded the development of UT's Sustainability Directory, a user-friendly online search engine designed to communicate the scope and strength of the university's academic offering with regard to sustainability. The directory presents faculty-staff profiles, research initiatives, courses, degree programs and curriculum, as well as centers and institutes with a sustainability-focus. The project launched in March 2011 with the goal of fostering increased communication and interdisciplinary work around sustainability at UT.
UT's Sustainability Directory allows individuals to easily create custom searches based on their primary interest areas, gives sustainability-work from all areas of the university equal weight and prominence, and helps the university develop metrics for assessing the university's offerings focused on sustainability education and research.
