During UGS Week, students gathered to speak candidly with the deans and familiarize themselves with the services offered by the Sanger Learning Center and the Vick Center for Strategic Advising and Career Counseling. “This is my third time helping to organize this event and I always hear participants say, ‘Wow, I didn’t know that!’,” said Alexandria Macias, council vice president. “For me, this is the ultimate success of UGS Week.” The week’s events attracted more than 70 undergraduates.
The focus of UGS Week, hosted by the Undergraduate Studies Council, is to promote School of Undergraduate Studies programs, while giving students opportunities to learn about majors and career paths. “The goal of these events is to bring awareness about resources on campus that not many people encounter on a day to day basis,” said Macias.
The Undergraduate Studies Council (UGSC) is the official representative student organization for the School of Undergraduate Studies. The Council provides a platform for Undergraduate Studies students to explore leadership while planning and executing events and activities for fellow students.
UGSC belongs to the Senate of College Councils, the student governance organization engaged in academic affairs on campus.
