Celebración de Independencias/Independence Celebration

Come join us at Gregory Gym Plaza on Thursday, September 13 for music, food and dancing!

Celebración de Independencias is a cultural event hosted annually by the Student Events Center Mexican American Culture Committee, Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Inc., and Lambda Theta Phi Fraternity Inc.

This event is held to celebrate the 9 Latin American countries that gained their independence in September of 1810 which include Belize, Brasil, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, México, and Nicaragua. We will celebrate the rich history and culture of each country by having tables representing each one. There will be music, live entertainment and free food for all those in attendance.

Our guest speaker will be elected Texas State Representative Mary González who will be speaking about the importance of voting in the Latino community during this election year.
