Wed, March 28, 2012 • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM • Meeting Room 1.106, Student Activity Center, The University of Texas at Austin
The Center for Mexican American Studies is pleased to announce the 2012 CMAS Distinguished Faculty Lectures:
Jovita González Memorial Lecture in the Arts and Humanities
Cecilia Ballí, Assistant Professor, Department of Anthropology
"Telling Good Stories: Journalism, Ethnography, and the Power of Narrative"
George I. Sánchez Memorial Lecture in the Social Sciences and Education
María E. Fránquiz, Professor, Department of Curriculum and Instruction
"Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors: Integrating Tejano History in the 4th Grade Curriculum"
The González and Sánchez lectures are presented by faculty associates of the Center for Mexican American Studies who are either in their first year of service at The University of Texas at Austin or who have been recently promoted to tenure or full professor. These two lecture series are a way to honor faculty while encouraging the further development of their research and mobility through the faculty ranks. CMAS will host both lectures as part of one scheduled program for the 2011-2012 academic year.
