Director: Charles E. Guggenheim
The story of American G.I.s who worked as slave laborers in Berga am Elster, a/>satellite concentration camp of the notorious Nazi death camp Buchenwald.
/>Captured by German Forces during the 1944 Battle of the Bulge, these soldiers
had
been singled out as suspected Jews. During the three months of their
captivity, 20
percent of them would die from malnutrition, disease and
physical abuse. Once
liberated by Allied troops in 1945, their story was
largely forgotten.
