NAVRATRI, a celebration of women through dance

Mon, October 17, 2011 | The University of Texas

The Hindu Students Association and the Center for Women's and Gender Studies team up to host a Hindu celebration of women in society called Navratri on October 17, 2011.

The Hindu Students Association(formerly Hindu Students council) at the University of Texas at Austin strives to provide opportunities to the UT student body and Austin community to learn about Hinduism, Indian heritage, and culture, and provide seva(service) to the community.  Last year, Hindu Students Association(HSA) enjoyed its most successful year ever, winning the RAISE Excellence Award for Best Cultural Organization and Swing Out awards for Best Cultural Organization, Best Risk Management, and Most Outstanding Organization at the University of Texas.

At this event, over 1,000 UT students, faculty, and members of the Austin community come together to celebrate the significance of women in Hindu and contemporary society through dance.
