Social Impacts of Rapid Scientific and Technological Change

The Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) and the Austin Forum invite you to attend a participatory talk by Dr. Elizabeth Keating, Director of the Science, Technology and Society (STS) program, and professor of Anthropology at The University of Texas at Austin. The STS program is an interdisciplinary concentration in the College of Liberal Arts and explores the social impacts of rapid scientific and technological change. Key areas of Dr. Keating's research include: gaming, mobile technologies, nanotechnology, collaborative work and work-life, education, bio-health and computer-mediated communication. Dr. Keating's research addresses impacts of technology on society, particularly the role of technology in shaping communication.
