Biography

Brendan recently graduated from Northwestern University with a Ph.D. in economics.  He completed his undergraduate studies in Mathematics and Economics at Iowa State University.  His research is primarily in theoretical econometrics, the field of economics that is concerned with the development of statistical methods.  His recent work focuses on developing statistical methods that can be used to estimate and test models from microeconomic theory, including game theory.  These methods are potentially applicable to many areas of economics, and the social sciences more generally; for example, these methods can be used to help predict how companies would respond to regulation by the government, thus informing public policy.  He is also interested in topics in applied econometrics, and in particular labor economics.  His work in this area includes empirical research that aims to understand the interaction between economic outcomes and health outcomes.  This includes cases where economic outcomes seem to affect health outcomes, and also cases where health outcomes seem to affect economic outcomes.
