Posted: August 6, 2012
The Longhorn Innovation Fund for Technology (LIFT) is awarded to innovative academic technology projects that promote innovation within the University of Texas. Department of French and Italian Professor Barbara Bullock and Associate Professor Carl Blyth, along with COERLL Projects Manager/Web Director Rachael Gilf and Department of Spanish & Portuguese Professor Almeida Toribio, spearheaded a project with the goal “to help educators exploit the SPinTX corpus to customize materials for the teaching of Spanish at all education levels.” The creators hope the project will accomplish a better quality of Spanish instruction for UT students, a strong contribution to language learning and sociolinguistics, and a heightened level of competition between UT and other national universities.
