Award Winning Advisor Helps Students Shine in the Department of Geography and the Environment

The Department of Geography and the Environment is pleased to announce the recognition of Calina Coakwell as recipient of the Liberal Arts Council Outstanding Advisor Award in 2013. The Liberal Arts Council has recognized Ms. Coakwell for improving the overall experience of students at the University of Texas at Austin. Ms. Coakwell has served as advisor and mentor to Geography students for 12 years and has also received the James W. Vick Texas Excellence Award for Academic Advising in 2003 and 2011 and the Liberal Arts Council Outstanding Advisor Award in 2012, as well as this current year. The purpose of this award is to encourage quality advising and recognize an advisor who has made an invaluable contribution to the continued success of university students.
