Blake is a doctoral student, studying the history of people, ideas, and goods moving across the Americas. His dissertation looks at the rise of the tourism industry in the Caribbean during the early twentieth century.
Before moving to Texas, Blake earned an MA at the University of Georgia and a BA at Florida State University, where his studies focused on the cultural history of U.S.-Latin American relations. His writing has been published online and in-print in Caribbean Studies, H-NET, The Middle Ground Journal, The Huffington Post, and the Smithsonian’s The Bigger Picture. He has received fellowships in support of his work from the Fulbright Program and the Smithsonian Institution. At the University of Texas at Austin, his advisor is Dr. Frank Guridy.
