Biography

Blake is a doctoral student, studying the history of people, ideas, and commodities moving across the Americas. His dissertation looks at the historical emergence of mass tourism in the Caribbean during the early twentieth century.

Before moving to Texas, Blake earned an MA at the University of Georgia and a BA at Florida State University, where his studies focused on the cultural history of U.S.-Latin American relations. His writing has been published online and in-print in Caribbean Studies, H-NET, The Middle Ground Journal, and the Smithsonian’s The Bigger Picture. He has received fellowships from the Fulbright Program and the Smithsonian Institution. At the University of Texas at Austin, his advisor is Dr. Frank Guridy.
