Institute for Historical Studies hosts workshop for Black History Month

Workshop to explore new Texas Black History Preservation Project

Posted: February 9, 2009

The leaders of the project, Michael Hurd and Roxanne Drake, have worked for a wide range of major media and have an ambitious plan for the project, including a six volume series UT press will publish, CDs for use in schools and an expansive website that will include oral histories as well as other resources.

"We are very happy to be able to encourage and support this new project with the workshop," said Institute Director Julie Hardwick, "there are many angles to the workshop and the project that would engage our campus community on a variety of levels."
