The acclaimed author will read from the novel The Hakawati ("The Storyteller") and follow with a discussion about modes of storytelling in the Arab world and the Western world, and discuss whether in the age of Tom Cruise, Jet Li, and Shakira, there can be anything resembling an authentic form of local storytelling.

A light lunch will be served.
