The Revolution Will Not Be Televised: Social Media, Broadcasting, and Political Mobilization in the Arab World

The talk will explore the ways in which activists used social media to organize mass protests in the Arab world in the Spring of 2011, and the ways in which social media interacted with traditional media to produce mass political mobilization. The talk with further explore the possibilities and limits of social media in the efforts to consolidate political change in the months following mass protests.
