Turkey Summer Program Information Session

This program, open to all University of Texas undergraduate and graduate students, will run for nine weeks. Students will study comparative cultures/literatures and the Turkish language at our host institution, TOBB University of Economy and Technology (TOBB-ETU) in Ankara, Turkey.
Dr. Jeannette Okur, a faculty member of the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at U.T.-Austin, will coordinate all educational activities, field trips, and teach the cultural/literary studies portion of the program (ie. 3 credit hours); her colleague Dr. Ali Fuat Bilkan, Chair of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at TOBB University of Economy and Technology, will coordinate the Turkish language instruction portion of the program (i.e. 6 credit hours).
The language program which will accommodate those students who have had no prior exposure to Turkish, as well as those students who wish to further their Turkish communication skills and/or their Ottoman Turkish reading skills. During their stay in Ankara, U.T. students will reside with Turkish university students, in TOBB University's dormitories, opposite the main campus. The program will include overnight field trips to destinations such as Istanbul, Cappadocia and Konya.
