Since its creation in 1968,
the Department of Spanish and Portuguese has evolved into a program now offering a wide array of undergraduate and graduate courses in Spanish and Portuguese languages, Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian literatures, and Linguistics.
Our academic programs are diverse and comprehensive and are supported by an internationally recognized faculty whose teaching and research interests include the literatures and cultures of Spain, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Luso-Africa as well as Hispanic and Portuguese linguistics.
