Prof. Toribio featured in Coerll newsletter
Posted: March 21, 2012
This issue of COERLL's biannual newsletter comes packed with information about the progress of Open Educational Resources in foreign language instruction.
In October 2011, COERLL hosted the Open Language Summit: Promoting a Culture of Sharing, a gathering of leaders and innovators focused on Open Education for language teaching and learning. Read the newsletter for reporting on the first-ever event, and access video content at the Open Language Summit website. Also featured in the newsletter--the Spanish in Texas video corpus project. Find out about this pioneering effort to study the Texas variation of Spanish. Project directors Dr. Barbara E. Bullock, Professor of Linguistics in the Department of French and Italian, and Dr. Almeida Jacqueline Toribio, Professor of Linguistics in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, speak to us in an interview about how the study can help improve literacy in classrooms, while empowering heritage Spanish speakers. As always, the newsletter highlights the latest progress and announcements on all of COERLL's projects and events.
