Ph.D. Alumnus Nicholas Bacuez receives 2013 Outstanding Dissertation Award!

The Outstanding Dissertation Award was established in 1979 by the The University of Texas at Austin Graduate School to recognize exceptional work by doctoral students and to encourage the highest levels of scholarship, research, and writing.

Nicholas Bacuez, Ph.D., was announced a winner of the award at the Graduate School / University Co-Op Awards Banquet that was held on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, where he was presented with an award check for $3,000.

Nicholas's dissertation, supervised by Jean-Pierre Montreuil, Ph.D., is titled "Automated Pattern Recognition for Intonation (PRInt). An Essay on Intonational Phonology and Categorization."

Nicholas earned his Ph.D. in French Linguistics in December 2012, and he currently discusses his methodology and presents his research results in conferences in the U.S. and abroad.  Read the award-winning dissertation and follow his current work on his web site.
