Die Geschichte vom Kleinen Muck (The Story of Little Muck) is a 1953 feature film directed by Wolfgang Staudte, adapted from the 19th century fairy tale written by Wilhelm Hauff. It follows a hunchbacked old potter in a Middle-Eastern town who is constantly abused by the townspeople due to his physical appearance. On one occasion when the children of the town corner him in his shop, he locks them in and tells them they can only leave once they have listened to his story. By regaling them with the adventures of “little Muck”, a hunchback boy whose kindness and benevolence overcomes the avarice and greed of the adults in his life, the older Muck wins their respect and admiration.
