Louisa May Alcott: Through Her Eyes (Opening reception for adults and children)

Sat, May 21, 2011 • 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM • Howson Branch, Austin Public Library, 2500 Exposition Blvd

Bring the family to celebrate "Louisa May Day." Children will create crafts that call attention to the times in which Louisa May Alcott was a child and her writing as an adult. Adults will be treated to an open house displaying the diversity of Alcott's publications and a photo exhibit featuring Austin during Alcott's era. Hear dramatic readings from Alcott's works while enjoying tea and shortbread. Gretchen Murphy, the scholar for the Alcott series, will outline discussion events to follow in June, July, & August.

Louisa May Alcott programs in libraries are sponsored by the American Library Association Public Programs Office with the support of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
