Symposium: "Cinco de Mayo: An Occassion for Reflection"

The annual Mexican holiday that celebrates the defeat of the French forces by the Mexican military on May 5, 1862 provides us opportunities to reflect on the historical significance of the the battle. Presenters will acknowledge the famous battle, but they will also honor its memory by reflecting on immigration, one of the most important issues facing our hemisphere in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
