Alex Djamoos Climbs Mount Kilimanjaro, Reaching Last Camp at 15,000 Feet

Tue, July 10, 2012

Alex Djamoos, an International Relations and Global Studies/Liberal Arts Honors major, climbed to the last camp of Mount Kilimanjaro at an altitude of 15,000 feet this summer.   The purpose of his climb was to support and inspire people with disabilities, particularly children living in Russian orphanages.

Alex made this climb on two prosthetic legs.  He was born unable to walk and lived in a Russian orphanage until age 15.  He then came to Texas and received prosthetic legs through the I Want to Walk Program, the same group that coordinated his journey up Kilimanjaro.
