Study Abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina: Geography, Language, and Culture

Fri, October 11, 2013

The study abroad program in Buenos Aires, Argentina is accepting applications for the May 22–July 4, 2014 session. Applications to the program led by Dr. Gregory Knapp are due by December 1, 2013.
For six weeks in Buenos Aires, students in this hybrid, faculty-led program reside in homestays close to parks, shops, cafes, and public transportation and participate in organized field trips and activities. The Institute for Study Abroad (ISFA-Butler), founded at Butler University in Indianapolis, is the on-site program provider offering classes and support at the downtown Buenos Aires study center.
Students choose from one of two 6-credit tracks, which include classes in Geography of South America, Latin American and Argentine Literature, Advanced Spanish and Argentine Culture, and Intermediate Spanish.
Dr. Knapp has performed research on traditional and modernizing agriculture, water, adaptation to environmental change, and ethnic and cultural geography in relationship with modernization. He has served as Executive Director of the Conference of Latin Americanist Geographers, and is currently involved with the Food and Farming Research Initiative of the Department of Geography and the Environment.
For more information about the program and financial aid possibilities, visit Buenos Aires Study Abroad, or contact Ellen Aoki at the Study Abroad office or Dr. Knapp. Orientation sessions will be held Thursday 10/17 at 12:30pm in CAL 221, and Tuesday 11/12 at 4:00pm in INT 119 (International Office).
