Workers Defense Project Youth Program Instructor, BTT Gateway Job ID 6968

WDP is committed to helping improve the quality of life of immigrant workers and their families. As means to achieving this goal we offer youth leadership development programming. The course provides participants with the opportunity to learn important leadership values, while building a broader understanding of the importance of community participation. Organization does not have one set curricula and instructors instead use multiple resources to create and deliver tailored lessons. WDP asks the instructor to draw upon their own unique experience to build upon and improve the courses.

Requirements:
→Experience working with youth (2+ years) and creating youth-focused activities
→Commitment to social justice and cultivating youth leaders
→Self-starter with ability to work independently and communicate effectively and promptly via email
→Strong communication skills in English and Spanish, computer literate, well organized
→Experience coordinating volunteers
→Detail oriented
→Ability to work Monday and Wednesday nights (6:45pm to 9:15pm) for three 10-week sessions annually (30 weeks/year)
→Commitment to going the extra mile to work as a team, including being available for occasional meetings/events with WDP staff outside of class time (including educational team coordination meetings, monthly membership meetings, protests, actions, etc)

To apply, submit a letter of interest and resume to Courtney Koger at Courtneyk@workersdefense.org.  Application deadline is 5/1/2013.
