The overarching role of the Economist is to enable quality business decisions by providing economic, decision analysis, planning, and asset management products/services to asset and venture groups. The Economist will be the decision analysis leader in the asset, stewarding the decision process and derived asset value, while managing and leading the use of the appropriate tools and methodologies to evaluate key business choices. A critical aspect is influencing Upstream Americas decision quality through a balance of challenge, guidance, and support, towards results delivery.
This role requires the Economist to be a thought leader in improving the Decision Analysis tools and techniques within the UA Economics community. A major responsibility of this position will be the active participation in the creating, crafting, and implementing of the next DA Improvement Plan strategy. As part of the DA Services team, the position will require the Economist to creatively implement tools and techniques to help the Economics community better provide commercial insights to the project teams that are supported. Presentations to large groups of economists will be required.
• Generate, review and maintain economic models
• Frame, evaluate and dialog around new economic opportunities
• Develop strategies to improve Decision Quality and Analysis within the Economics community
• Present economic results and insights to project teams
• Present and implement Decision Analysis improvements
• Apply Economic Standards and guidelines to economic models and analyses
Study Level(s): PhD (Masters candidate with less than 3 years relative work experience.)
Discipline / Major: Decision Sciences, Decision Analysis, Management Science, Operations Research (any of these preferred) (Business is looking for a specialty area of decision analysis. Economics with PhD who has had previous internship or course work in decision analysis is permissible.)
Minimum cumulative GPA is 3.20 in both the graduate and undergraduate degrees.
