University of Texas Campus Environmental Center, Tree Nursery Coordinator, Application Deadline, BTT Gateway Job ID 8205

The UT Campus Environmental Center seeks a new Tree Nursery coordinator beginning in late spring 2014 and continuing through the 2014-2015 school year. The coordinator will work with CEC, UT Landscaping, and the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center on the management and use of the Tree Nursery. The primary function of the position is to keep current students connected to the Nursery via volunteer opportunities and sharing accomplishments. Start date: anytime after March 1. 

Duties: 
• Most time spent at the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center, assisting with tree care and overseeing volunteer events. 
• Attend Campus Environmental Center meetings (weekly).
• Recruit volunteers via in-person attendance at events, and social media.
• Monitor trees@utenvironment.com email and answer inquiries.
• Collaborate with on-campus staff on creative expansions of the tree program. 
• Report to Green Fee Committee twice per year on status of Tree Nursery and volunteer program.

Requirements: 
• Must be a full-time graduate or undergraduate student in good academic standing. 
• Access to a vehicle to travel to LBJ Wildflower Center.
• Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for plant and tree care. 
• Reliable, strong communicator. 

Preferred:
• Past experience in plant and tree care (personal or professional).
• Experience in volunteer management. 
• Experience and/or interest in program development that engages multiple stakeholders at an institution, such as alumni, current staff and students, upper administration, front-line workers, etc.
