Cynthia Karras



Cyndy Karras holds a Master's in Educational Psychology from New York University and a B.A. in Mass Communications - Electronic Media from Texas State University. She is a doctoral student in the Human Development and Family Sciences program at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research interests focus on low-income families: the association between the neighborhood environment and children's development and the impact of public policy initiatives on multiple domains of families' and children's development. She has worked as a research assistant and as a project manager on multiple, large-scale data projects both at NYU and through the University of Virginia. Her recent work focuses on the influence of violence exposure on youth mental health symptoms and the role that safe havens from violence can play in reducing the adverse impact of violence exposure on youth symptoms. Cyndy currently assists on the Texas Home Visiting Program Evaluation project at the Child and Family Research Partnership with Dr. Cynthia Osborne at the LBJ School of Public Affairs.
