The Blanton Museum of Art's upcoming Third Thursday will include activities specially designed by and for students. This free monthly event features extended hours, Yoga in the Galleries (6:30 p.m.), the Blanton Book Club (7 p.m.), café specials, 15 percent student discount in the museum shop, and tours of the collection (7:30 p.m.).

5-7 p.m. – Harmonious Connections: How Art Inspires Music
Special guided tours illustrating the complementary relationship between art and music.  Plan II student, Patty Huang, engaged the help of graduate students from the Butler School of Music to compose musical reactions to a handful of artworks found in the Blanton collection.  Engaging tours integrating these musical components will be offered throughout the night, and two of the composers will be in attendance. A great opportunity to appreciate the creative union between art and music!

6 p.m. – Trivia in EAS Capitol Room

Show off your artistic and pop culture knowledge during this special UT-themed trivia game! Questions will cover the Blanton’s art collection, public art around Austin and the UT campus, as well as pop culture knowledge.  Play in a team or fly solo and enjoy some refreshments as you show off your trivia skills!  Winners receive prizes and bragging rights.

7 p.m. – Special student screening of Fold Crumple Crush: The Art of El Anatsui
Filmed over the course of three years in Italy, Nigeria, and the United States by art historian Susan Vogel, Fold Crumple Crush gives an insider’s view of artist El Anatsui’s artistic practice. (53 minutes)

Make sure to mark your calendars for this exciting evening at the Blanton Museum of Art.
